This multifaceted engineering project required maximum precision and diligent calculations for its concrete mixtures. Challenges arose when digging the accelerator’s foundation; the location’s combination of sandy and rocky soil needed special diamond drills. At the end of the foundational preparation process, piles were carefully cast to depths of 25 meters. This technique allowed enough support for the structure and the accelerator itself, which is made of steel and weighs hundreds of tons.
After the bottom casing was cast at a height of 12 meters, the accelerator was assembled during construction. The structure’s walls are two meters thick and reach a height of 65 meters.
